Chapter 96 - 132 - Deventhia’s Illusions

Chapter 96 - 132 - Deventhia’s Illusions

"Mei, your sister is harming you from within"

"S-sorry?"

Mei, awaiting Adriannel’s response, kept looking at him in confusion, not understanding the meaning behind his words.

How could her sister be responsible for her condition?

"W-what are you guys talking about?", Yue’s quivering voice reached them, her mind in turmoil, contemplating her sister’s words.

Mei’s eyes suddenly widened, realizing she was not alone but in the presence of her sister.

Slowly turning her gaze towards Yue, she looked at her in confusion, sensing the situation intensifying.

Having felt her body deteriorating from within, Mei had decided not to let her sister know until the day she died.

Her decision was to end her life through other means, sparing her sister from guilt or an unwanted burden, blaming herself for not noticing her condition.

"N-nothing, Yue. Calm yourself," Mei said, exchanging glances between Adriannel and her sister.

Yue’s face contorted, understanding that her sister had been unwell all this time, unknown to her.

Adriannel, noticing Yue’s condition, felt the need to clarify things before it escalated further, leading to an Outburst—a special condition of Oblivionists on the brink of a mental breakdown, causing self-detonation and releasing a destructive flux covering an area as large as the kingdom of Vendal.

This chain reaction could destroy all mana in the surrounding area, leaving long-lasting effects if not contained, making the already rare Oblivionists more destructive.

Adriannel had witnessed only two Oblivionists in his all Reincarnations — Yue’s mother and Yue herself, proving ow much rare it is for even Adriannel to see another Oblivionist.

Looking at her, he decided to explain the truth without causing further turmoil in her mind.

"Listen, little girl. Your sister has a physique that repels mana attacks, regardless of their strength"

Hearing his words, Yue locked her gaze with his crimson eyes, widened with confusion, But Adriannel’s words about Mei’s overpowering ability brought her some relief.

"However, her ability isn’t simply repelling energy. It’s like a vibrating force, causing repulsion upon contact and continuously vibrating as long as it receives energy"

Hearing his words, Yue at least understood that her sister’s physique repels attacks imbued with mana — reacting with the same force it receives.

Looking at him intensely, she continued hearing his words," The moment the vibration stopped, the life source will also come to siege"

GASP

’!?’

Yue’s mind fallen into trance still trying to process his words, slowly those words resounding in her mind.

// Moment the vibration stopped, life source will siege //

// Vibration stopped, Life siege //

And, With each passing moment the hidden meaning behind those words become crystal clear giving her, the idea about what it meant.

She began to piece together the hidden meaning behind Adriannel’s earlier words, about her being somehow responsible for her sister’s death.

And, after knowing about Mei’s physique, it made her realize that if the internal oscillation acting as a replenent inside her sister’s body ceased, her demise will be inevitable.

Swiftly, she recognized the stark contrast between her body, which repelled mana, and her sister’s, which required it.

It dawned on her that their opposing physical natures were akin to a deadly poison.

Drip

A tear slid past the boundaries of her eyelashes, clenching her dress turned towards her sister, who realising her gaze slightly averted her eyes, scratching her cheek trying to act as if nothing happened.

"Why, sister?" Yue’s eyes welled up with tears, blurring her vision. They cascaded down her cheeks uncontrollably.

Even though tears were meant to alleviate once burdens, in that moment, they seemed to only intensify her pain.

She sprinted towards Mei inside that space which seemed to hardly encapsulating them while they flew towards a certain direction.

She held her tightly as sadness filled her mind, soon overshadowed by a deepening ache in her heart. Her eyes, seemingly helpless, allowed big tears to flow endlessly..

"Sniff... why?"

As the murmured words made their way to Mei’s ears, she felt the warmth of Yue’s hug, genuinely warming her from within, prompting her to return the embrace with equal sincerity.

"I am really a curse, sister. Please, you can... sniff... leave—"

All those memories of being referred to as the cursed child without mana by other children resurfaced in her mind.

She now realized how much danger she had put her sister in by being beside her.

"Don’t anger me more, Yue!" ,Mei stepped back, glaring at her sister’s teary eyes with her own filled with anger.

Initially surprised by her words, Mei quickly understood what her sister intended to say, causing her to interrupt before Yue could utter those words.

"How dare you!" Her eyes turned red, glaring at Yue while biting her lips.

"You idiot!"

She couldn’t help but wanted to reprimand her more, for suggesting leaving, when her whole world revolved around her.

// Sichter Whele Mommy gone....sniff //

// I am not Ungry, you take it //

These small memories became painful for her, the moment she realized the time left for her to live in this world.

But now, those memories that kept her alive wanted to leave her, How amusing,’ You really need a good beating, brat’

"Y-you, how can you laugh!?" Yue’s eyes twitched, seeing Mei chuckling, feeling bewildered about how serious she was a moment ago glaring at her.

HUSS

Suddenly, the mana surface surrounding them came to a halt, causing them to stumble, but they quickly regained their balance, supporting each other.

"What happened?" Both asked in unison, feeling bewildered by the sudden impact caused by the shield halting.

"We have arrived"

A manly voice broke their small moments, and they turned towards a man looking in a certain direction, causing them to do the same.

Yue’s teary eyes reflected a huge building shrouded in runes, intricate design, elegant, spiraling towers adorned with intricate carvings and vibrant stained glass windows — Valeria Academy.

"T-this?..."

Seeing the academy, Mei felt confused as to why they were brought here instead of some house.

Even without knowing what it was, Mei realized, seeing the glamour of the building in front of her, that it was at least something like a teaching institute or something similar.

"This is where you all are going to live now." Adriannel turned his attention towards both girls, who were in their own dilemma, seeing such a huge building.

SWISH

They flew towards the Academy, passing through an enormous black gate filled with runic inscriptions — a mastery of Haidrens.

Entering the vast gate, they slowly started to land on the ground.

Various questions swirled in the women’s minds, but entering the main building took precedence, especially considering Adriannel had already noticed the absence of one of the professors.

Due to his strength, it didn’t take him much to realize that the mana density within the Academy had dropped significantly, directly pointing towards Deventhia.

Illusionists not only used their own mana but also the surrounding mana to construct an illusion to withstand the strength of beings inside the illusion.

Especially, Deventhia used her own mana to guide the path for Natural mana due to her Dormiantrise nature; it was a smart move to enhance her strength.

Of course, it’s not that she can’t use illusions in a manaless place; it’s just that the effectiveness of the illusion diminishes greatly.

Moving inside the main building, Adriannel, accompanied by Yue and Mei, moved while they observed the dimly lit hallway, illuminated by mana orbs flying around.

Instead of heading towards his office, Adriannel took a detour towards Deventhia’s, which was not far away.

.

.

Reaching he place, without knocking, he entered the room.

"Oh my~! It’s unfitting of a gentleman to enter a lady’s roo—,"

"Where is Banzihum, Deventhia?", Adriannel asked, looking towards the woman with ash-grey hair and blue eyes, features of a Hedrian kind.

"...."

Deventhia narrowed her eyes, seeing how Adriannel directly addressed the main topic, ignoring her words.

Though she had anticipated him to detect all these things, it was still surprising.

ZZZ-Zzzzzz

Suddenly hearing a sound, she tilted her head before her eyes widened and a smile formed on her face.

Moving towards them, she took a glance at Adriannel who was standing there.

"It’s been quite some time, Mei and Yue," a gentle smile formed on Deventhia’s face as she saw both girls seemingly blankly looking at her, not understanding what she meant.

Gesturing for an embrace by lifting her hand, she looked at their hesitant stance.

Deventhia, seeing them still standing and not attempting to embrace her happily, pouted and turned sideways, "No huggies, I guess...I am hurt"

Observing her expression, both girls looked towards each other, biting their lips, before moving towards her and relaxing their bodies for a hug, eliciting a smile from Deventhia.

WHOOSH

The moment Yue’s body made contact with her, Deventhia’s body started to disintegrate into small particles, breaking like dust before vanishing.

Adriannel, witnessing everything, turned his gaze towards an empty chair inside the room, and coldly remarked, "Deventhia, it’s not time to joke"

His words seemed to find their way towards the chair as a figure began materializing, featuring ash-grey hair and starry eyes contrasting the usual Hedrian appearance.

"Fufu~, it’s fun to see you always fall for my tricks"
