Chapter 95 - 131 - Yue is the cause of Mei’s Death

Her widened eyes were fixed intensely on Adriannel, his mana strength rapidly increasing. It seemed to be a battle for him against himself.

BANG

At that moment, Adriannel’s own mana rushed towards him. With each passing moment, the intensity of his mana increased, accompanied by a tremendous barrage on his body, although it seemed directed at Mei.

Mei’s emotions swirled up, and she swiftly hugged Adriannel, wrapping her hands around him, "Thank you, thank you, thank you... Sniff"

Thud

Yue’s eyes widened as she dropped Chrono on the floor.

She sprinted towards her sister, her body dissipating mana radiating from Adriannel.

Despite feeling a tingling sensation due to the intensity of that mana, her body felt like thousands of raindrops hitting her, yet she maintained consent for her actions.

"Stop it, Mei! He is older than you," Yue’s mind didn’t want to see her sister fall for an older man. She tried to pull Mei away by wrapping her arms around her. "Even though he is handsome, please, sister, it is unethical!"

Both Adriannel and Mei’s mouths twitched upon hearing Yue’s words. Feeling the pull from Yue, they retreated.

Mei’s eyes were watery. Only Mei knew what she had gained today, which was most precious to her.

Her tears wouldn’t stop.

Today would be the happiest day of her life.

She could feel the flame diminishing inside her, bursting like a blazing sun. Her vitality was rising again.

Though it wasn’t visible on the outside, her soul was weakened and on the brink of shattering, yet somehow she would be able to live with her sister now, she suddenly kowtowed.

"Sister! No, you can’t beg him to marry you."

FLICK

"Ouch!" Yue’s eyes became wet after feeling a flick on her head.

She turned towards a man standing with his face twitching, then towards the young woman kowtowing. "Hey, did her mind really—"

"Yes, Father!"

’!?’

’What the hell,’ Adriannel’s mouth, already twitching, enhanced as he glanced between both girls. He rubbed his forehead. ’Guess both sisters have a screw loose.’

His face formed a smile before he spoke, "Do you know, if your father heard this right now, it would be quite troublesome for me."

Mei, bowing, suddenly lifted her head, looking at Adriannel while folding her hands. Her pupils moved frequently. She had never seen her father but had heard about him from her mother—every story about how lively and caring he was.

But one day, he left them.

She remembered all this, even though she was a child at that time, only because these memories were solace in her most vulnerable times, giving her hope to live longer to be with her naive sister.

"Oh, you guys were just toddlers at that time. You can ask him once your mother brings him back. But for now, you should know your ability is inherited from your father," Adriannel said, leaning and giving his hand to the girl, leaving her bewildered. Mei turned towards Yue, looking at her blankly. ’Did Mother go to protect Father?’

Though she didn’t know if it was true, it was enough for her that her parents were safe.

’This dumbo,’ Mei suddenly noticed her sister’s eyes fixed on her hand held by Adriannel. Feeling like the beating she received from him wasn’t enough, she left his hand and moved towards Yue, who felt confused. "Sister, what happ—"

"Ahhh!"

Mei wrapped her hands around Yue’s neck in a dead lock position, falling to the ground. She lightly gripped, not to harm but enough to make her wince in pain.

She started to tap her hands, as if it were a regular thing, and pleaded, "S-sister, let go! Your kind sister will die!...cough."

She acted like she was choking, as she usually did to avoid getting beaten, accompanying this playful event. Mei’s face twitched. "Shut up! I told you not to read those types of romance books, but you still kept reading them secretly."

Mei had repeatedly warned Yue against indulging in romance novels and gossip about others’ relationships to shield her from potential corruption.

Despite Mei’s admonitions, Yue often found herself immersed in gossip or daydreaming about romantic tales, much to Mei’s exasperation.

Amidst the chaos, in a mock plea for rescue, Yue humorously beseeched "Uncle" Adriannel for help, seeking a reprieve from Mei’s playful antics.

Adriannel, observing the sisters’ antics, turned his attention to a gentle buzzing sound.

ZZZ-Zzzzz

Not far away, Chrono, the small dragon, slept soundly, unperturbed by the events. Adriannel’s form gradually ascended into the air, and Chrono, caught mid-snooze, levitated along with him. Interrupting this display, Adriannel addressed the two sisters.

"Stop it. Let’s go."

Mei, upon hearing his command, ceased her playful teasing, feeling somewhat embarrassed.

She shot disapproving glares at Yue, who, realizing her sister’s disapproval, attempted to divert attention by innocently whistling as though nothing had happened.

Whistlee~

Adriannel’s mouth twitched slightly, but he motioned for both sisters to join him. In an instant, their bodies were enveloped in mana, lifting them into the air.

Both sisters looked at Adriannel in confusion.

Yue, notably surprised by her inability to affect Adriannel with her anti-mana ability, pondered if it was some sort of scam, recalling similar tactics used in fictional stories she loved.

Adriannel noticed Yue’s confusion but maintained a serene smile.

They departed the mansion through a large hole created by Chrono, and as they soared through the air, Yue questioned the temporary nature of her inability to affect him.

"It’s not temporary, girl."

This revelation piqued Mei’s curiosity. She interjected, desiring to understand her own abilities before anything else, prompting Adriannel to divulge details while they made their way to the academy.

"Your ability is Repulsion. You can repel any mana-filled attack. The stronger the attack, the stronger the rebound," Adriannel explained.

Mei, absorbing this information, felt a surge of confusion, seeking clarification on why she had been feeling increasingly weakened internally.

"Why was I feeling weaker inside all this time? Why did it feel like I was dying? What was killing me?" Mei’s voice trembled with the weight of her impending fate, the looming knowledge of her mortality threatening to leave her sister behind.

" Your own Sister, Yue", Adriannel turned towards Mei.

" Mei, Your sister is killing you from inside"
