Chapter 123 - 159 - Alexios and Gleinder in a Big Misunderstanding
Tap tap
Inside a long hallway, the figure’s footsteps reverberated as he approached the lighted end, revealing an open area attached to it.
"Who is Gleinder here?" Upon arriving inside the training ground, Alexios searched for Rihane’s brother, looking around to find him.
Standing there, Alexios, with his caramel hair and emerald eyes matching those of his sister, looked around.
After dealing with Amrantha Tenebri and her daughter inside the Demon Realm, though wanting to bring Lily here, somehow things didn’t go as he had expected.
Somehow, while on his way, Amrantha interrupted, telling him that being around Zeph would not be safe for her daughter or something, making Alexios come alone here.
Amrantha Tenebri, true to her strength, had already sensed the movement, the resonance of her bloodline linked to every Demon Queen in the past, making her feel the movement in Evangeline.
The moment she felt this, knowing well about the chances of a battle occurring in the Hidden Realm, she stopped Alexios from going near the boy who would die the moment Adriannel Riantain sealed his wife and vanished with her.
This action made the only protector of the Academy banish, opening the way for Chrintain Valley to make moves, inevitably turning the academy into a burning battleground.
Meanwhile, the Obsidian Order would adhere to their strategy, aiming to eliminate the first rankers from both the second and third years.
This realization made Amrantha understand how her daughter’s life would be endangered by being with the Rank 1 of the Second Year.
Even though Amrantha was in the Demon Realm, she had information about what was happening in the human realm, especially in the Academy, where her only friend resided—Adriannel Riantain.
In reality, the reason for the Demon Queen’s strength being the epitome and standing on top among all realms was the Tenebrial Bloodline.
This bloodline boosted a demon’s strength based on their rage and mental state. The more they lost their sanity, the stronger it became, with the major drawback being its limitless potential.
If a Demon Queen lost herself in darkness, merged with it, lost all reasoning, and even her soul, then the power born was called the Demon God.
However, it also attacked one’s mental strength, causing anyone with the bloodline to lose their senses upon attaining it, necessitating preparation before assuming the throne.
Before becoming a Demon Queen, one had to serve their predecessor for over ten thousand years, mastering power control bestowed by the previous Queen.
The Bloodline Tenebri belonged to everyone Royal to the Demon Realm’s throne.
Previous Queen Evangeline trained Amrantha, who succeeded the throne after awakening her dormant energy in a ritual centered around Evangeline.
Despite standing at the peak of strength in all three realms, Amrantha was not confident to face Evangeline due to the fact that age increased the strength of the Tenebrial Bloodline, making Evangeline far stronger.
Evangeline was the only Archdemoness who reached godhood but fell from ascension due to grief after losing her every beloved at the hands of her husband—a popular tale among all demons.
This made Amrantha refrain from standing against Evangeline, as their confrontation would lead to mutual annihilation.
Adriannel never asked for help from Amrantha because whenever Adriannel died after sealing Evangeline away, the Obsidian Order and Chrintain Valley refrained from making any moves, all because of her.
Amrantha knew that if something happened to her child, she would lose her sanity and become like Evangeline, hence she stopped her daughter, despite her protests and curses.
"Aren’t you the brother of Thalia Crimwell?" Gleinder recognized Alexios at first glance due to his strikingly similar facial features to the girl his sister had warned him about some days ago.
"Oh, yes, we look alike... I mean, yes," Alexios, hearing himself directly recognized as Thalia’s brother, felt somewhat pleased that he resembled his beloved sister—only his heart knew this feeling.
"Okay, so how can I help you?" Seeing Alexios’s sudden excitement followed by an abrupt shift to seriousness, Gleinder began to understand what Rihane had warned him about: both siblings having a peculiar demeanor.
After the night of meeting both Zeph and Thalia, Rihane had approached Gleinder, warning him about a hidden danger within their family.
Rihane had advised him to be cautious around Thalia and anyone related to her, except Zeph.
Gleinder felt perplexed seeing Thalia repeatedly cleaning her lips using a tissue, but he chose to overlook it, focusing instead on the realizations he had made about his uncle’s involvement in a soul summoning ritual, intending to use him as a vessel.
Though he wouldn’t have believed these things without proof, Zeph had even mentioned specific dates when he was called by his uncle to train and got injured every time.
According to Zeph, this was all a setup to obtain his blood and use it as a trigger to summon some soul, referring to it as a Hero of sorts.
"I challenge you to a duel," Alexios confidently issued the challenge, having sensed from Gleinder’s expression that he was well aware of being challenged.
"I accept, but I don’t want to lose in front of my sister," Gleinder calmly expressed, recognizing Alexios as a potentially formidable opponent and not wanting to underestimate him.
"Neither do I," Alexios replied with a blank expression, their eyes fixed on each other before...
"Sigh." Both sighed simultaneously, moving towards each other and placing their hands on each other’s shoulders.
"What can we do? I feel so helpless," Sitting on the ground with Gleinder, Alexios expressed his sense of helplessness, understanding that the person he was about to engage in a fight with also had a sister—fostering a mutual understanding unique to siblings.
"Thalia must have really wanted to teach Rihane a lesson," Gleinder remarked, turning towards Alexios with a small smile forming on his face.
"This is all due to Zeph." Alexios understood that the reason behind his sister proposing to challenge someone to a fight was solely because of Zeph.
Otherwise, why would his fairy-like little sister attempt to harm anyone on her own initiative?
Gleinder took the sword to sheathe it, holding it with one hand while the other gripped the sword’s handle.
"If only he hadn’t kissed Rihan—" Alexios attempted to finish his words, but a sudden sound diverted his attention.
CRUNCH
Slowly turning his gaze, Alexios witnessed the sheath of the sword, made of metal infused with Mana for strength and durability, crushed like a twig in Gleinder’s grip.
"What you just said," Gleinder slowly turned towards Alexios, gazing at him with a mind swirling with various thoughts, each piece falling into place.
"You don’t know," Alexios felt confused about how a brother could be unaware that his sister kissed someone.
Unaware that he was the most uninformed person in the situation, ignorant of the fact that knowing about the kiss was the least of his concerns at that moment.
He could only wait for the future to understand that not only Gleinder but he also needed to prepare himself.
"Tell me, Alexios," Gleinder’s anger had reached its peak, the only thing restraining him was the slim chance that he had misunderstood what he heard.
"Zeph forcefully kissed Rihane, perhaps she felt broken inside, which is why she didn’t tell you," Alexios, seeing Gleinder’s anger, wasn’t certain himself if Rihane was kissed or not.
Yet, based on a guess, he fabricated an entire story on the spot to handle Zeph.
His plan was to get rid of Zeph without getting his hands dirty.
If Gleinder harmed Zeph, Thalia wouldn’t suspect him, killing two birds with one stone.
"That Bastard!" Gleinder snapped, now understanding why Rihane kept wiping her lips with a tissue in front of him that night.
His anger stemmed from why his sister hadn’t confided in him about her feelings for Zeph.
Yes, he concluded. If it was forced, it would’ve been impossible for Rihane, known for her gossip nature, to keep it from him.
It meant she loved that guy, something he couldn’t accept.
But as a brother, his focus shifted to Alexios, who was waiting for Gleinder to confront Zeph, believing he needed to support his sister’s motives.
He also understood the reasons that might have prevented his sister from expressing her feelings—Thalia Crimwell.
Gleinder concluded that because Thalia was around Zeph, his sister felt inferior, unable to express her feelings to the top-ranked Zeph.
He resolved to help Rihane advance her rank to at least the top 10 and boost her confidence in dealing with her emotions.
Looking at Alexios, his gaze turned cold, realizing that his sister’s love rival’s brother was now his own rival.
He wanted to assist his sister, and now everything just fell into place in his mind.
"Let’s go, Alexios Crimwell. I accept your challenge."
It seemed that Alexios misheard something, but unlike Gleinder, he didn’t feel the need to confirm those words.
He was sharp enough to process everything.
Observing Gleinder, whom he initially intended to manipulate and use, Alexios now realized a significant misunderstanding had arisen.
’Why the hell do all these idiots keep coming into my life?’
