Chapter 262 The Death of Pandora

Chapter 262 The Death of Pandora

This question stumped Sean.

Sean sighed softly, just as he was about to say something.

The door suddenly opened.

Luna entered the room, standing timidly at the doorway, seemingly hesitant about whether to continue.

Her gaze swept over Sean, then landed on her mother, her eyes filled with worry and unease. She gently bit her lower lip, her voice almost a whisper, "Mom—can you please not do this experiment—"

"Luna, baby, why do you say that?" Pandora asked gently, her tone tinged with surprise.

Luna lowered her head, looking somewhat uneasy, but she continued firmly, "Mom, this experiment makes me very uneasy. I know you're amazing, but every time you're about to start an experiment, something always happens."

I worry that this might be a signal that this experiment should not continue.

Pandora's gaze softened. She stepped forward and gently stroked Luna's hair. "Luna, I know you're worried about me, and your mother has considered these issues as well. But research is inherently full of unknowns and challenges, and I can't give up my experiment because of these unexpected events."

"But," Luna looked up, her eyes filled with worry, "what if these accidents are to protect us? What if this experiment really brings danger? What will we do then?"

A flicker of doubt crossed Pandora's eyes, but she quickly regained her composure.

Her hand gently stroked Luna's cheek. "Luna, the road of research is never smooth. Behind every major discovery lies risk and challenge. If we shrink back because we are afraid of potential dangers, then we will never make progress."

Luna's eyes remained filled with worry as she gripped Pandora's hand tightly, as if trying to persuade her mother to abandon the experiment that unsettled her. "But Mom, some dangers are unforeseen. If this experiment really harms you, or threatens all of us, shouldn't we reconsider?"

Pandora sighed softly, crouching down to meet Luna's gaze, her eyes filled with deep maternal love and understanding. "I know you're worried about me, baby, and I know you're saying these things out of concern for me. But I want you to understand that Mommy isn't acting rashly. I've considered all the possible risks and taken all necessary precautions."

She paused, as if organizing her thoughts to reassure Luna. "These unexpected events are indeed strange and somewhat perplexing, but that doesn't mean I should give up. It's just part of the investigation process; we must face it, not be intimidated by it."

Tears welled up in Luna's eyes. She wanted to say something, but seeing her mother's resolute expression, she felt that she could not change her mother's decision.

She knew that once Pandora made up her mind, it would be difficult to sway her, but she was still unwilling to give up her last effort.

"Mom, I just don't want you to take risks. I don't want to lose you—" Luna's voice trailed off, filled with helplessness and fear.

Pandora's heart skipped a beat. She pulled Luna into her arms, gently stroking her back as if to soothe her anxiety. "I know, baby, I know what you're worried about. But I promise you, I will be very careful and won't let any danger come near us."

She released Luna, smiling as she looked into her eyes with unwavering conviction. "Some things are worth the risk, especially when we believe they can bring about positive change. Mom won't let anyone get hurt, and I'll make sure everything is under control."

Luna looked at her mother, tears slowly streaming down her face.

Pandora stood up, gently wiped away Luna's tears, and then turned to look at Sean.

Their eyes met briefly, and Sean saw in Pandora's eyes the steadfastness and unwavering determination within her.

Although he felt uneasy, he also knew that no amount of persuasion would help at this point.

"Thank you for your concern," Pandora said to Sean and Luna, her voice filled with gratitude, "but please believe me, I know what I'm doing."

As soon as she finished speaking, Pandora turned and walked towards the laboratory, leaving Sean, who was silent, and Luna, who was filled with anxiety, standing there.

After a while, Sean patted Luna's head, left Luna inside, and then followed her.

At this time, Pandora had already begun preparing for her experiment.

Her movements were practiced and precise, as if she had rehearsed every step in her mind countless times.

She took out potion bottles, herbs, and various magical potion materials one by one and arranged them neatly on the laboratory table.

"Do you need my help?" Sean walked into the lab, trying to make his tone sound as relaxed as possible.

Pandora smiled slightly, her voice filled with gratitude though she didn't stop working. "Thank you, Hack,"

But I've made all the necessary preparations. You just need to stay and watch. If anything goes wrong, I'll let you know immediately.

Sean nodded, found a spot close to Pandora, and kept his eyes fixed on her every move.

Pandora first took several bottles of dark green and amber potions from the shelf and gently placed them on the table, the bottles still gleaming faintly.

"First is the Moonflower Essence," Pandora murmured to herself, her fingers deftly manipulating the bottle cap as she carefully poured one of the amber-colored liquids into the cauldron.

As the liquid fell into the crucible, it made a slight hissing sound and produced a cloud of silvery-white smoke that instantly filled the laboratory.

Then, Pandora took out several silver leaves from a box beside her. These leaves shimmered faintly in the light, as if they might disappear into the air at any moment.

She gently placed the leaves into the crucible, and the moonflower essence immediately reacted with them, causing tiny ripples to spread across the surface of the liquid.

"It's time to add Sirius pollen," Pandora said softly, pouring a few tiny grains of powder from a delicate little bottle, which shimmered with a blue glow in the air.

She slowly sprinkled the powder into the crucible, and the color of the liquid immediately changed, gradually transforming from amber to a deep blue.

As the potion changed, the temperature inside the cauldron began to rise. Pandora gently tapped it with her wand, and flames immediately ignited beneath the cauldron, the flames gently licking its bottom.

She frowned slightly, focusing intently on controlling the size of the flame to ensure the temperature was within her desired range.

"This stage is crucial," Pandora explained to Sean, her gaze still fixed on the cauldron. "If the temperature isn't controlled properly, the potion could spoil or even become dangerous."

Sean nodded.

For some reason, watching Pandora's actions made him feel like he had forgotten something.

Next, Pandora took a few drops of red liquid from a small bottle. The liquid was deep red and viscous, like congealed blood.

She carefully dripped the liquid into the cauldron, where it spread through the blue potion as if two distinct forces were subtly converging.

The liquid inside the crucible began to vibrate slightly, as if some hidden force was gradually awakening.

"Now is the most crucial step," Pandora said softly, her tone revealing a hint of tension and anticipation.

She gently waved her wand, and the liquid in the cauldron suddenly began to churn violently, as if undergoing some kind of mysterious transformation.

A flicker of excitement flashed in Pandora's eyes.

Seeing Pandora's actions, Sean remembered.

Today is February 4.

If he remembers correctly... Pandora is on this day.

Just then, Sean noticed that the liquid in the crucible had suddenly become unusually bright in color, as if some force was struggling to break free of its restraints.

His heart suddenly tightened.

"Pandora, wait!" Sean called out urgently, but before he could finish speaking, the liquid inside the crucible began to churn violently, as if controlled by some unseen force.

The shockwave grew stronger and stronger, and the air was filled with an unsettling energy.

Pandora's gaze was fixed on the crucible, and the excitement in her eyes was gradually replaced by an uncontrollable anxiety.

She sensed that the potion seemed to be beyond her control, and the situation was rapidly deteriorating.

"Something's not right—" she muttered to herself, her wand beginning to tremble violently.

She tried to cast a control spell, but the power within the cauldron was completely out of control, and the violent vibrations almost drowned out her voice.

Sean's heart raced; he felt the danger in the air growing stronger, almost threatening to engulf him.

He rushed forward, trying to pull Pandora away from the cauldron, but the moment he reached out, a tremendous amount of energy erupted from the cauldron.

"Pandora!" Sean shouted, rushing over to try and protect her, but the explosive energy came too fast and too violently.

The liquid inside the crucible burst instantly, and the powerful shockwave nearly tore the entire laboratory apart.

Magical energy raged through the air, flames and debris flew everywhere, and the entire room was engulfed in a devastating storm.

Sean felt a tremendous impact hit him, and he was violently thrown to the ground, his vision blurring instantly.

He struggled to lift his head, his eyes filled with terror and despair. He saw Pandora being struck by that energy, thrown into the air, and then crash heavily to the ground, her body motionless.

The crucible had been completely pulverized, and the liquid spilled onto the ground, igniting a raging fire.

"Mom..." Sean suddenly looked up and saw Luna standing outside the room.

She witnessed her mother's death!

Luna's eyes widened, a mixture of shock and fear in them, as if the whole world had collapsed in an instant.

She stood at the doorway of the room, her body stiff and unable to move.

At that moment, her world seemed to stand still, and the scene before her was frozen in her mind like a nightmare.

"Mom," she said weakly and tremblingly, hardly believing what she was seeing.

Pandora's body lay quietly on the ground, the surrounding flames reflecting on her pale face, making her appear incredibly desolate and lonely.

Sean felt as if a sharp blade had pierced his heart. Seeing Luna's pained eyes, he felt an indescribable sense of guilt and despair.

He struggled to sit up and reached out to Luna, trying to pull her away from this place filled with sorrow.

"Luna, don't come any closer—" Sean's voice was hoarse, almost drowned out by the crackling of the flames.

However, Luna seemed not to hear Sean's words, and she slowly walked towards her mother's body.

She knelt beside her mother, her hands trembling as she stroked Pandora's cold face.

"Mom, wake up—you can't do this." Luna's voice was filled with despair as she shook Pandora incessantly, as if that would snatch her back from the clutches of death.

But Pandora's eyes remained closed, and the warmth and smile of the past were gone from her face.

"I'm sorry, Luna—I...I couldn't protect her." Sean's voice was hoarse and pained, and tears silently slid down his cheeks.

Luna's tears fell like broken pearls onto Pandora, her heart feeling as if it had been torn to pieces. "Mom—didn't you say you'd be careful? Didn't you say—everything was under control?"

Her voice grew softer and softer until she finally choked up in grief and could no longer utter a sound.

She gently rested against her mother's chest, feeling the stopped heartbeat, as if her own heartbeat had stopped as well.

Time seemed to freeze at that moment; the flames inside the laboratory continued to burn, making crackling sounds.

Luna's world collapsed at that moment.

She knew that no matter how much she cried or begged, her mother would never wake up again.

That powerful energy not only destroyed the laboratory, but also the most important person in her life.

Sean held Luna, trying to offer her some comfort, but he himself was also deeply mired in endless self-blame and pain.

Even though he tried to protect her, he ultimately couldn't prevent the tragedy from happening.

Xenophilius, who was sunbathing outside, heard a loud noise from inside the laboratory and felt a strong sense of unease.

He rushed into the room and ran towards the laboratory without regard for anything else.

As he stood at the laboratory door, his eyes widened suddenly, and the scene before him seemed to tear his entire world apart.

The laboratory was a mess, filled with acrid smoke and a burning smell, and flames were burning wildly on the ground.

His gaze swept quickly across the room, finally settling on an unbearable sight—Sean was kneeling on the ground, with Luna beside him tightly embracing Pandora's lifeless body.

The flames in the laboratory gradually died down, and the smoke in the air gradually dissipated, but the pain of losing a loved one could never be dispelled.

Pandora, the great potions master and pioneer, ultimately gave her life in the experiments she loved most.

And Luna, her daughter, lost her most important mother.

Xenophilius, her husband, lost his lifelong companion.

At that moment, all hope and dreams were buried in this accident, never to be relived.
