Chapter 130 - 166- Troublesome indeed
BOOOM!
Two streaks of crimson and green light collided in the sky.
BAANNG!
The collision caused a shockwave that destroyed the nearby area for a mile, turning it into a huge crater as if struck by an asteroid.
SWISH
Both streaks were thrown back before falling to the ground.
CRACK
Instantly, the ground broke into smaller particles from the force of their landing, both bodies shining with crimson and green auras.
But it seemed the green aura was slowly fading after relentless battles against the individual who appeared to be in the same state since the battle started.
"Haa.....Haa.....Adriannel, you may kill me, but we will never stop coming," Liamian’s aura slowly faded, even after eating the World Tree’s fruit; his energy depleted against that monster.
There was a reason why the entire elven race had not forcefully entered Vendal or taken action from the Valeria Academy, even with several professors there.
Liamian’s exhausted eyes reflected a figure of a man shrouded in a crimson aura, silver hair fluttering with ruby eyes glinting while fixed on him, with words resonating like judgment from his mouth, "No need for you to stop, since it will only give me enough time."
SCHLKT
With those words, the ground beneath Liamian turned into sharp blades, piercing directly through him as his eyes widened.
"Y-you, How...." With those words, his eyes finally closed, the black crystal-like object piercing his body seemed to remind him of something that remained a mystery with his death.

"WhoooooOOOAAAAAHHHH!"
THUD!
’.....’
It took Laila a moment to process the information before realization struck, causing her pupils to widen as her lips parted to speak, "No!, Jia!"
SWISH
Without delay, she sprinted towards the fog but was stopped by a force centered at her wrist.
"Don’t go in there," Zeph stated calmly, holding Laila’s wrist.
"Huh?, Wh-what, Why?" Laila seemed confused, her words jumbled as she spoke.
"Yes, I grabbed you, indeed saved you from the poisonous fog," Zeph answered all her questions in sequence, leaving her blankly staring at him before her lips quivered, "P-poison?!"
"Yes, that fog is poisonous," Zeph nodded calmly, a smile forming as the fog slowly dissipated.
"You threw her in poisonous fog?" Laila couldn’t believe him, looking at the young man who seemed uncaring while letting a girl corrode in there.
"Have you never heard that poison can only counteract poison?" Zeph raised an eyebrow inquiringly, his expression obvious.
"Huh? Is there something like this?" Laila calmed down, looking at him calmly before suddenly realizing, "Wait! Are you saying Jia is more poisonous than that fog?"
"How cruel of you, Laila? How could you call your friend poisonous?" Zeph leaned forward, meeting her gaze with a smile.
"N-no, you are playing with my words," Laila turned towards Estelle, who seemed much calmer than usual, observing the poisonous fog which was now disappearing, her eyes widening as she remembered past life memories.
//"Laila, could you try to talk with those Mistweavers?"//
These words echoed inside Estelle’s mind, recalling how her decisions, influenced by Laila’s frequent communication with demons, had weakened her due to demonic energy. Just like the artifact used by Zeph to protect his mind from outside interference, but without the presence of Seraphina (the divine sword), his mind could easily become corrupted by demonic energy.
Communicating with such demonic creatures had a profound effect on Laila’s mind, indirectly weakening her ability of persuasion and initiating a chain reaction. The first monster with whom Estelle had commanded to talk was a Mistweaver.
"AHHHHHhhhhhhh! These slimy things smell like shit!"
A cry drew all their gazes towards the fog, which had completely disappeared, leaving several small leeches with black and amethyst stripes lying dead around a short brown-haired girl.
Some were in her hair and some around her, emitting green visible smoke, smelling like rotten flesh.
"Eeeiikk~, You Zeph Bastard!" Jia could only yell, looking at the young man, all smiles, standing while holding Laila’s wrist, who also appeared pitiful to her.
"Yes, I am coming," Zeph moved forward, taking Laila’s hand, not caring about the small burns on Jia’s skin, which were healing due to her being a demi-human with faster regeneration compared to humans.
.
.
.
"Leave me, Laila, I will kill him!" Jia struggled against Laila’s hold, while Laila seemed to be in a dilemma due to Estelle’s words urging her to restrain Jia for some time.
Moving beside Zeph along the visible path in the dark forest, Estelle turned her gaze towards him and said, "Thank you, Zeph."
"Huh, why?" Zeph’s gaze scanned the surroundings as he walked, not fully attentive to her words, staying on guard with his eyes searching for something.
"You are already aware. I just hope you could tell me in advance—" Estelle began, attempting to express her desire for Zeph to inform her about anything he planned regarding the upcoming future but was interrupted by him.
"Why would I?" Halting in his tracks, Zeph turned towards Estelle, looking at her with a small smile.
"Sorry?" Estelle felt awkward, acknowledging his point.
It was conceivable for him not to disclose anything out of fear of betrayal or some other reason, causing Estelle to nod in understanding. "Fine, I understand—"
"If I told you, how would I make Laila fall for me?" Zeph slightly tilted his head, narrowing his eyes as he looked at Estelle. With amusement in his eyes, he stated the obvious.
"What?" Estelle’s eyes widened as she looked at the young man who had just taken the first step in saving someone, but now, out of nowhere, said something incomprehensible.
"Wait, weren’t you the one trying to have me accompanied by Jia yesterday too?" Zeph folded his hands, reminded of the previous night’s events where he was cornered by Jia and would have been declared a criminal by Estelle’s recording if not for his two bodyguards, Thalia and Valeriana.
"Excuse me? Where did that come from?" Estelle was already frustrated because her plan of not being able to bind him had failed, and now he was bringing that up out of nowhere.
"I wanted to say," Zeph leaned forward, coming near Estelle’s ears. With his warm breath falling on her ears, he whispered, "Wouldn’t it be fun if Laila accompanied us too?"
’Piece of trash,’ Estelle couldn’t believe his shamelessness. She knew he was already aware of her plans yesterday, making him go as far as to kiss Jia, and now uttering such nonsense.
"Let’s leave, shall we?" Finally feeling the presence of the thing he was searching for, Zeph turned and left the place while resting his hand in his pocket, slightly taking a peek at Estelle. ’She seems bothersome.’
’What if she tries something stupid again?’ His gaze turned cold, knowing any single mistake would cost him his life. He was here just to get his hands on Laila’s ability, not these ones.
It was clear that one was a villainess and the other was the half-soul of a Demi-Queen.
’Very troublesome.’ Zeph’s mind was filled with the way to deal with upcoming problem while he kept moving forward.
"D-did he just say he wants to make me fall for him?" Laila loosened her grip on her hand, bringing it towards herself and pointing, while looking at Jia, who was in the same shock as her.
