Chapter 109 - 145 - Perspective really changes whole Thing.
Zeph’s POV
"Thalia, I need you to stand guard while I handle something in this room. Once your intuition kicks in, you’ll pounce on me, okay?" I looked towards Thalia, leaving those juicy lips. ’Damn it’
If not for the urgency of this matter, I could have eaten her right now.
But this is a rare opportunity to get my hands on something that would be just like acquiring a second plot armor.
Of course, it’s not like I care much if I don’t get that thing, but the problem lies in its importance in the upcoming events surrounding the imminent test.
It was supposed to be monitored by Banzihum personally, but that will slightly change now.
Just the memory of his severed head sends shivers down my spine.
Seeing how that woman stood so carefree while holding an elf’s head—it just reminded me, once again, of how puny I am right now.
Literally, I struggled even to leave a small scratch on that bastard, and she...
Let’s not talk about that. After all, ’It’s not like she doesn’t have any weaknesses.’
I can’t help but think about her precious niece.
Valeriana is slightly tough to deal with, due to her isolated personality but not enough to make me back down.
And now that I need to protect my Thalia, I can’t slack in wooing her.
’Damn, I sound like some hypocritical cheater’
Of course, it’s not like it matters. What’s the point of cheating when there might not even be a world left to cheat in, after all?
Whatever, I am definitely not going to die like some moron, especially since I already know the main cause of the heroine’s defeat at the end.
I will just sacrifice my body to quench their thirst and become a bridge to maintain their unity.
SWISH
’Where is that?’ I moved through the room, which looked more like an old museum filled with dust and spider webs.
Someone might think there could only be garbage here.
But even a child can tell, in the deep ocean from where these dust particles came. Let’s suppose the environment is capable of creating soil; then, what’s with these spider webs?
Are there spiders that can travel inside the ocean, enduring such high pressure, and make webs inside only a single room in the whole big palace?,’Like hell, I believe that’
Though, of course, I found it funny that the Illusionist made it so obvious for smart people to guess Anomaly in this room, as expected of Professor Deventhia.
Yes, this whole room is filled with an illusion solely created by Deventhia Carlos Hedrian herself, and the reason for a Hedrian to be here and cast an illusion that still remains intact— a small tea party.
Long story short, Thallasar was more like a tea party location for some beauties, some of whom are my future mother-in-laws too.
Estelle’s mother was known for her prankish antics, sometimes crossing the threshold of a mere prank.
However, let’s discuss that another time.
For now, the important thing is that her treasure is hidden in this room.
And, just to protect those things, she asked Deventhia to create an illusion to prevent these items from falling into her daughter’s hands, as she didn’t want to bear the embarrassment of hearing childish remarks from Estelle.
And due to her bond with these things, She didn’t destroy them but hid them.
Our miss Illusionist, not wanting to leave any loose ends in embarrassing her dear friend, cast an illusion that was easy for any smart person to see through, and Estelle was on the smarter side.
Though, it’s not as if any of them are getting out of that place alive.
’Wait there patiently. Your son-in-law will save you once he’s done with preparations’, I definitely wasn’t going to let any of them die as originally mentioned in that awful novel.
’But the main reason to save them was...’, I turned to look at a girl standing at the door, the reason that motivated me to go to any length just to bring a smile.
’Shit’, this heart of mine has defeated the brain that stubbornly wanted to keep things its way. Maybe this is what it feels like when you care for others,’ I feel like a fallen maiden’, it felt cringe.
’I am definitely not going to tell this to anyone, ever in my life’, Deciding that, I focused on the reason that was none other than my mother-in-law, Cassandra Crimwell, also known as Thalia’s mother.
It was like an added tragedy to every heroine or villainess; all their mothers have to disappear someday, and after they try to find them, they only discover lifeless bodies, pushing the plot forward.
That’s why I found that darn novel becoming even darker as the volumes increased.
’Wait, what is she doing?’,While looking towards Thalia, I saw her carrying a white pill like a shiny marble.
"Why does it feel nostalgic?" I tried to recall that pill in Thalia’s hands.
Of course, not everything mentioned in the novel was stored in my mind, but somehow that thing in Thalia’s hand was once a topic of controversy among readers,’But what was it?’
"!?!"
"Damn it!"
"Thalia, don’t eat it!"
I ran towards her to stop her, but it was already too late—she had already eaten that thing, which was one of the pranks from Estelle’s mother made solely for one of her friends, Cassandra Crimwell.
"T-Thalia, are you alright?" I reached her and gestured my hands towards her now dull, completely green eyes,’Now what?’
If I remembered correctly about that thing’s effect, then....
Thalia’s POV
’Who knows what he wants,’ I rubbed my forehead, feeling hurt due to his flick.
I’ll definitely take my revenge once we reach back to the academy, but...
’Oh my, it’s embarrassing,’ I covered my face, remembering my own words when we were together at the seaside mansion, about how I wanted to take revenge by giving him hickeys.
I definitely won’t do that; I’ll have to find another way to tease him.
’!?’
"What was that just now?"
Suddenly, my Intuition kicked in, prompting me to follow a certain direction, stopping in front of a wooden box.
Somehow, my intuition kept telling me to open it and see what’s inside, although I didn’t understand what it was. Trusting my ability, I opened it.
"What’s this?" I lifted a small marble from within, shining in white.
"Looks delicious"
’What the hell,’ I didn’t understand why suddenly I thought it looked delicious, but my intuition kept insisting that eating it would be good.
Should I eat it or not?
This was the only thing going through my mind.
I turned towards Zeph, who was busy searching for something and me, already feeling hungry.
My intuition didn’t indicate if this thing was poisonous, so I ate it.
"Thalia, don’t eat...!"
Suddenly turning my eyes, I looked at a teddy bear, standing in front of me.
"Woo-hoo! How fluffy!", I moved my hands to touch his fluffy chest.
’What?!’
My face frowned instead of feeling fluffiness; when I felt firmness, lifting my eyes again, looking at the fluffy teddy, I felt confused.
"Why are you fat but not fluffy, huh?"
Why isn’t that bear standing straight?
Is it drunk or something?
"Control yourself.....I hate that fat...I love a slim body."
"What!?"
I couldn’t believe this fluffy bear wanted to lose its weight.
"Idiot, don’t do it."
I moved towards him; due to his stumbling here and there, I easily threw him on the floor, sitting on his chest.
"Thalia, it’s me. What’s this teddy...Zeph"
"Oh, Zeph, hehe, I caught you, finally." I can’t believe I got my hands on my real teddy.
Of course, I hate him for losing that lovely fluffiness, but it’s okay; I will feed him again.
"Come on, Zeph, now I finally got my hands on you. Fufu~"
**************
"T-thalia?" Zeph looked at Thalia, who had stumbled and fallen onto his chest. After numerous attempts to bring her back from her intoxicated state, he again tried," Hey Gir—"
"You idiot! Did you drink that thing?" Estelle barged into the scene, instantly understanding what Thalia had consumed upon seeing both her in that state.
"Oh, hey there, Estelle." Zeph, realizing his only chance to find that thing, slipping away, cursed his luck silently.
"I’ll deal with you once I’m done with her." Estelle moved in, lifting Thalia, who protested weakly, "Stop it, I need to beat this bad teddy who wants to loose his fluffy...Zzzzzz."
"Has she fallen asleep?" Estelle, noticing Thalia’s struggle fading, turned to Zeph, who simply nodded.
Turning his attention back to Thalia, he recalled the pill and its story.
It was a Flux Cleansing pill, designed to clear energy within one’s body.
Although it didn’t manipulate mana, it affected something else entirely that was not even belonged to this world But in Thalia’s case, it would have a different impact.
It was meant to directly enhance her Awakened Ability to the next level, similar to her mother’s ability.
Cassandra Crimwell possessed an Awakened Ability named «Foresight», an ability far more potent than any current heroines possessed. She could literally foresee the future.
And this pill was an attempt to amplify that ability to its pinnacle.
However, Lady Carlien, also known as Estelle’s Mother, had added a small twist to it, under the guise of a side-effect.
Cassandra, on her first attempt, experienced dizziness and lost her accumulated treasure.
Thalia’s mother was often referred to as ’Greed’, as she had a tendency to target her other friend, collecting money and valuable items, but her Awakened ability always shielded her.
However, on that particular day, falling into a trap orchestrated by Carlien, she was forced to lose her entire life’s savings at Carlien’s hands.
