Chapter 512 Deception and Tricks, Evelyn is a Professional
Chapter 512 Deception and Tricks, Evelyn is a Professional
Xiao Gui's back—to be precise, a large patch of skin from the back of his neck to his waistline—was densely covered with white holes.
Each hole is about the size of a corn kernel. The edges of the holes are red, swollen, and inflamed, but the inside of the holes is not empty.
There was something embedded in each hole.
Plump, translucent, slightly yellowish granules—
Like corn kernels, but plumper and more...fresh.
Evelyn saw one of them throbbing slightly, like a slow-beating heart.
Evelyn's sanity plummeted, but her face remained expressionless. She even tilted her head slightly, like an experienced doctor studying a case that was uncommon but not particularly significant.
"When did it start?"
The female ghost's head was entangled in her hands, her knuckles making a faint cracking sound.
"Three days ago. At first there were only two or three, I thought they were insect bites, so I applied ointment. But this morning..."
She couldn't continue.
The father took over, his voice low and deep, as if it came from underground: "She caught him this morning."
Evelyn's gaze fell on Little Ghost's back.
Several scratches ran across those holes, red, swollen, broken, and oozing.
The deepest scratches revealed a cracked skin—where a few "corn kernels" were missing.
The cavity left after it fell off has not yet healed; the edges are blackened and it emits a sweet, rotten smell.
"How many times did she catch her?" Evelyn asked.
"Three times," the father said. "After grabbing it, it started crying, saying that something was crawling on its back."
Evelyn's mind raced—
She doesn't need to cure it; after all, she's not a real doctor, she's just playing the role of a pediatrician.
Therefore, all she needed to do was make the three members of the family believe that she was treating them.
Evelyn crouched down in front of Little Ghost, looking directly into his cloudy amber eyes.
A smile curved her lips: "It'll be a little cold, just bear with it."
Then, she took a bottle of high-concentration medical alcohol from the shelf behind her.
She unscrewed the bottle cap and poured the alcohol onto the little monster's back without any hesitation.
A clear liquid spread along the edges of the holes, seeping into every crevices and filling the gaps between the insect eggs and the skin. The smell of alcohol exploded in the examination room, pungent and sharp, like an invisible knife.
The instant the alcohol came into contact with those pores—
The "corn kernels" moved.
All of them contracted violently at the same time, as if they had been scalded.
Little Ghost let out a short scream and tried to rub its back against the wall.
"Don't move." Evelyn's hand remained firmly on Xiao Gui's back, without letting go.
The alcohol continued to seep into those holes.
The "corn kernels" shrank even more, quickly drying out from their bulging state.
The translucent sheen on the surface has disappeared, replaced by a dead gray, dry texture.
The pulse stopped.
Evelyn knew that this was only a temporary stun.
As long as those holes remain, and as long as those shriveled insect eggs have not been removed, they will come back to life.
What she needs is not a temporary suppression—she needs a treatment plan that the family of three can follow, that looks professional, and that won't be exposed in the short term.
She wasn't trying to fool those insect eggs.
It was those two adults.
"It's not a big problem," Evelyn said, letting go of her hand, standing up, walking back to the examination table, and picking up a pen.
"A typical keratinous parasitic cyst, simply put, is a pus plug formed when the sweat gland pores on the back are infected by a certain anaerobic bacteria."
Every word she uttered was made up on the spot, but her tone was so confident that it changed the anxious expressions of the two strange parents into focused ones.
"Then... what should we do?" the female ghost asked.
Evelyn did not answer directly.
She unscrewed the pen cap and began writing on the prescription slip.
What she wrote was:
【1. Closed Negative Pressure Therapy】
2. Scratching is prohibited.
[3. Daily Midnight Potion]
The female ghost's parent looked down and frowned slightly—not out of doubt, but because she didn't understand.
Evelyn had already prepared her next sentence.
"I need to give her a temporary closed negative pressure treatment," she said, turning to the cabinet in the examination room, "to seal up those cysts and prevent them from getting infected."
She opened the cabinet door.
Inside, several rolls of white gauze, a small bundle of medical tape, and a pair of scissors were neatly stacked.
She covered the little ghost's back with gauze, covering the holes.
Then she picked up the tape and wrapped it around and around, tightly and forcefully, like binding a package.
With each turn, she pulled the tape tight, applying enough pressure to press the gauze firmly against the holes.
Xiao Gui's body trembled slightly, but he did not struggle.
The shells of the insect eggs burst under pressure, squeezing out the liquid inside and soaking the gauze, but not a single drop leaked out.
The pressure of the tape sealed them inside.
"Alright," Evelyn cut the tape and straightened up. "This is called closed negative pressure therapy."
"The principle is simple—to allow the pus plug inside the cyst to shrink, die, and be absorbed by the 'monster' in a high-pressure, oxygen-deficient environment."
She paused, glanced at the little ghost, and then at the two strange parents.
"The key point is—you can't grab it." Her tone became more emphasizing. "If you grab it, it'll leak air. If it leaks air, oxygen will get in, and the necrotic tissue will ferment a second time. Do you understand?"
The female ghost's parent nodded, her eyes even becoming slightly moist.
It wasn't sadness, it was a sense of relief.
"As for the daily treatment," Evelyn picked up her pen and added a few more lines to the prescription, "at midnight sharp, in front of a mirror, apply the ointment to the gauze."
"Do not open the gauze, apply directly from the outside of the tape."
"Apply one layer at a time, not too thick, but make sure it's even."
She tore off the prescription and handed it over.
The female ghost's parent took the paper with both hands and looked down at the names of the medicines on it.
"This ointment works best in oxygen-deficient environments," Evelyn continued, each word spoken with certainty and composure. "Use it once a day at midnight for seven consecutive days. Come back for a follow-up appointment after seven days."
The female ghost parent carefully folded the prescription note, as if it were a huge check, then looked up at Evelyn with reddened eyes.
"Doctor," she said, "thank you so much."
The father didn't speak, but he nodded to Evelyn.
Then the three of them walked out of the consultation room.
The door closed.
Evelyn stood still.
His body bent over suddenly, as if someone had removed his support.
She braced her hands on the examination table, breathing heavily, finally finding an outlet for the nausea churning in her stomach.
She gagged twice, but nothing came out; instead, tears welled up in her eyes.
This job is damn exciting, even more so than being a secret agent!
