Chapter 156: The Debt Collector’s Are Waving~
Raiden slowly walked in the morning sunlight as he approached the sleeping place of his Aunt Ruby, the big ol’ Banyan Tree.
Underneath it, Raiden found Ruby resting peacefully. The last night’s action had taken a big toll on her already injured body, causing her to fall into deep sleep as soon as they got back to the base.
Raiden carefully extended his hands and patted all her glimmering crimson scales before whispering quietly.
"System, show me the status."
{Ruby, The Divine Blood Emperor}
{Status: Grievous Injuries Reopened}
{Rank: Mythical (Degraded to Gold Tier due to Injuries)}
Description: Ruby, The Divine Blood Emperor, is Queen of all Blood Beasts. She has an innate ability to control blood, using it as a form of weapon. She is also known as a Walking Calamity, known to have drained the blood of an entire continent before sinking it, killing hundreds of millions in the process.
{Potential: D Tier (Degraded from S Rank due to injuries)}
{Moves: ???}
{Exclusive Skill:???}
{Current Condition: fallen into a deep sleep due to exerting herself. Lifespan reduced to only two years.}
Raiden look at the last line with an intense glare. He had found out about her condition after this system was upgraded, allowing him to read more information.
His face was particularly grim as he read the remaining lifespan. Last time he checked, it was still over three years, but now it had been reduced to mere two years, and that was in the best-case scenario.
If she ever needed to take action once again, it wouldn’t even last two years; it might not even be six months.
Every time she took action herself, it reduced her life span by a lot. Last night, for example, had taken a whole year’s worth of her life span away.
That meant, realistically, Raiden had to find a way to cure her or treat her injuries within the next six months, and he had no idea how to go about treating her Mythical Terra Beast injuries.
The strongest person he knew in the world was Old Man Sol, who was only half a step into the Mythical Battle Master category. He and his Dark Phoenix were merely half-step Mythicals.
The half-step Mythicals were the people who were too strong to fit into the Diamond Tier but too weak to progress into the Mythical Tier. And from what he knew, the old man had been stuck in this zone for the last 20 years, and he didn’t have any hope of progressing into the next tier.
If it were that easy to become Mythical, there wouldn’t only have been twelve Mythical Battle Masters in the world. But then again, that information could be wrong, as his mother was a Mythical Battle Master, hidden from the world. Who knew how many other battle masters were in hiding like her?
But that Old Man Sol was the only hope he had in solving her case. He needed to ask for a huge favour, and he didn’t want to do it if he could help it. He didn’t want anyone in the world to find out his aunt was injured.
People would find it irresistible to make a move against her, as every single part of an injured Mythical Terra Beast was worth more than anything in the world. It could give the people who had been stuck at that half step a chance to go into a higher tier, and for that slim chance, people were willing to throw their lives away.
So he had no intentions of ever revealing her injuries to anyone in the world.
In fact, last night was also a demonstration to all the parties watching in the dark that she was still alive, still breathing, and still holding on very strong, so it could keep the wolves at bay.
"I will find a cure for you, Aunt Ruby. I promise. Our parents have left us. There is no way I am going to lose you, too." After lingering for another moment, watching her sleep peacefully, he left with firm footsteps, ready to put his next plan in action.
He needed to get really strong, really fast. His speed wasn’t fast enough. If only he had been stronger, his aunt wouldn’t even need to take action herself.
With that resolve, he threw himself into the training all day long, pushing his body as well as Woolie’s and Neva’s bodies to their limits.
Just as midday arrived and he was busy with the training, his phone suddenly started ringing loudly, snapping him out of his thoughts.
"Hi Sarah, what’s up?" He asked while wiping the sweat off his body.
"What’s up? What do you mean, What’s up? The deadline is almost here. Raiden, where is the money??" Sarah, a tiger-like voice sounded from the other end, putting him in a stupor.
"Huh?? Money?? What money??" Raiden asked, confused.
"Don’t play with me, man! You know the money that is needed to pay back our debt!! Do you have it yet?"
"Huh-Oh!! That money!! Yes, I remember now!!" Raiden slapped his head. He genuinely had forgotten about it. With so many things and events going on in his life, he had forgotten all about the debt.
"You do? You have it? You know the date is like 5 days away, 60 Million Credits."
Hearing her words, Raiden started to sweat a little.
"Ahem-about that..."
"Wait, you are telling me you don’t have the money??" Sarah’s voice rang out from the other end, full of disbelief.
"No, no. It’s not like I don’t have it. I do. It’s just a uh...work in progress."
"A work in progress? Tell me honestly, Raiden, how much have you amassed in the last few days??" Sarah’s voice was filled with suspicion now.
"Don’t worry about that. Five days, right? I try to get as much as I can. You should probably start looking for some money as well. I’m not sure how much I will be able to gather up."
"Huh? What do you mean by that? Tell me clearly. I—"
Raiden hung up the call, letting out a sigh of relief. He needed to find a lot of money in 5 days, and he only had one way right now to get it fast to get it as fast as possible.
