Chapter 223 Mysterious Affairs Department

Chapter 223 Mysterious Affairs Department

Sean shook his head, trying to shake off the strange feeling, and then walked straight to the end of the corridor.

Upon opening the door, he was surprised to find himself standing in a large, round room, the sight of which both astonished and intrigued him.

Everything in the room was black, including the floor and ceiling—black walls surrounded by rows of identical, unmarked, handle-less black doors.

Sean roughly counted on his fingers that there were about twelve doors.

Clusters of candles adorned the center of the room, their blue flames casting a clear, shimmering glow on the gleaming marble floor, making it appear as if there were pools of black water beneath one's feet.

Next...where do we go from here?

The thought had barely formed when a young woman wearing a black hat emerged from one of the doors.

Sean's eyes lit up as he stared at the door. In the blink of an eye, the wall began to spin rapidly, and the door was once again blended into the other eleven doors, becoming indistinguishable.

"Excuse me, are you Mr. Phillips?" The young woman also noticed the man standing in the center of the room behaving strangely. She walked up to Sean and, after seeing his appearance, asked him with some surprise.

"It's me," Sean replied gently. "I'm here on orders from Minister Fudge to deliver a document." As he spoke, he waved the sealed document bag in his hand.

"I see." The woman suddenly became enthusiastic, a change in attitude that surprised Sean. "Please come with me, I'll take you to see the person in charge." She continued...

At the young woman's command, the leftmost door suddenly opened a crack, and Sean followed closely behind her.

The first room was a rectangular room with a low-hanging lamp and a box of brains soaking in a green solution.

Like...formalin?

Sean thought to himself, somewhat uncertainly.

The young woman beside him seemed to notice Sean's confusion and offered to explain, "This room is called the Brain Chamber. Concepts about thought and all related topics are studied in this room."

"The concept of thought?" Sean muttered to himself.

"Yes, the concept of thought," the young woman further explained. "We try to analyze the nature of thought from different perspectives, exploring how it affects our behavior, emotions, and our interaction with the world."

"And... the essence of magic," the woman said, emphasizing each word.

Sean pressed himself against the transparent box, observing the brains.

This was the first time he had seen them so closely.

Each brain is immersed in a green liquid, encased in a delicate glass container. The liquid inside is clear and cold, and the surface of the brain is covered with intricate grooves, making it look both mysterious and awe-inspiring.

Seeing Sean so close to the container, the woman's voice held a hint of tension as she quickly warned, "Mr. Phillips, please be careful. These brains may appear calm and even undisturbed, but they are actually extremely aggressive."

"In past studies, we have had instances of people being attacked and entangled after accidentally touching or trying to pick them up. So please keep a safe distance and do not make any rash moves."

Upon hearing this, Sean was startled and quickly took a few steps back. Realizing his lapse in composure, he looked at the woman gratefully and nodded to show his understanding.

"Thank you for reminding me, but I was just too curious," Sean explained somewhat awkwardly.

The woman smiled slightly, seemingly unsurprised by Sean's reaction. "Curiosity is the driving force of exploration, but here..."

Safety is always the top priority.

She led Sean to the other side of the room, where there was a door leading to the next room.

As soon as Sean stepped into the second room, he felt an unusual chill.

This kind of cold is completely different from the cold of winter. The cold of winter is biting, with a piercing wind.

This cooling sensation is a chill that seeps from the inside out, as if it can penetrate clothing and reach the very marrow of one's bones.

Sean looked around the room. It was very long and narrow, with a high ceiling and tall shelves on both sides.

Rows of candles burning with blue flames surrounded the shelf, while glass marbles were placed on top of the shelf.

This is the Hall of Prophecy.

Without any hesitation, Sean made his decision in his mind.

Just as he expected, the young woman spoke up, "This room is the Hall of Prophecy. These prophecies are kept in glass spheres, protected by magic. Only the guardian of the Hall of Prophecy and the subject of the prophecy can take them down from the shelf. Anyone who tries to examine the glass spheres with their hands will immediately go mad."

"Does everyone have their own corresponding prophecy?" Sean asked casually.

"Not everyone has a corresponding prophecy," the young woman explained, gently shaking her head. "Prophecies are rare; they usually appear only at specific times, foreshadowing significant changes or events. These prophecies might be about an individual's fate, or they might be about the future of the entire magical world. Only those people or events with truly significant influence..."

Only then will it be possible to attract the attention of prophecy.

She paused, then continued, "Moreover, even if a person or event is mentioned in a prophecy, it doesn't mean that every detail of them will be revealed. Prophecies are often vague and profound, requiring interpretation and understanding. Sometimes, it may take several generations to fully unravel the true meaning of a prophecy."

"Then," he couldn't help but ask, "how were these prophecies recorded? Who put them inside these glass spheres?"

The young woman smiled slightly, seemingly unsurprised by Sean's question. "The recording of prophecies is a complex and mysterious process, the secrets of which are only known to the guardians of the Prophecy Hall. Through special rituals and magic, they capture and seal the prophecies within glass spheres to ensure they are free from external interference and destruction."

"As for the source of the prophecy, it is even more mysterious. Some say it comes from ancient magical creatures, while others say it is the will of the magical world itself conveying a message. But in any case, it reveals more possibilities for the future to us."

"Is there any prophecy about me?" Sean hesitated for a moment before asking the question that had been lingering in his mind for a long time.

The young woman looked rather troubled. She shook her head slightly and replied, "I'm sorry, Mr. Phillips, my authority is insufficient to know such specific matters. Perhaps only the guardian of the Hall of Prophecy can answer your question."

Sean felt a little disappointed, but it wasn't too bad, since he had originally hoped that there was a prophecy about him here.

He followed the young woman into the third room.

The room was square and dimly lit, with stone steps leading to a central tunnel.

Inside the tunnel, there was a platform with a very ancient stone archway standing on it, and a tattered black curtain hanging on the archway.

Inside the archway is a narrow passage that separates the world of the living from the world of the dead.

If Sean remembers correctly, Sirius Black, who is still in prison, was shot by Bella here, fell off the arch, and died.

The room was so eerie that the two of them tacitly avoided speaking.

Without pausing for a moment, the young woman led him to the next room.

To be precise, it was the doorway to a room.

The door was firmly locked with a huge iron lock, the iron chain engraved with intricate patterns, making it appear both ancient and sturdy.

The young woman explained, "This room is called the Love Room."

"A love room?"

"Yes, this door was locked when I first joined the Department of Mysteries. It has never been opened, and the lock cannot be opened even with a lock-picking spell." The young woman shook her head. "It is said that there is a huge aphrodisiac fountain in the room, but I don't know if it's true or not."

During their conversation, the two had already arrived at the next room.

This is a unique room, filled with a mysterious and profound atmosphere.

As soon as he stepped in, Sean felt a strong shock, because he found himself in a completely dark space, in which countless colorful planets floated.

These planets vary in size, some as small as a basketball, others as large as a miniature moon. Each emits a unique light, some a gentle blue, others a fiery red, and still others a mysterious purple.

These lights intertwine in the darkness to create a breathtaking starry sky.

However, to Sean's greatest surprise, he found himself floating along with those planets.

He felt incredibly light, as if he had lost the constraints of gravity and could freely roam this starry world. He tried waving his arms and found that his movements could indeed propel his body slowly through space.

This strange experience left Sean both excited and bewildered. He looked around, trying to find the secret of the room.

However, he could see nothing but the floating planets and endless darkness.

This made him wonder if this was a real room or just an illusion created by magic.

Just then, the young woman walked up to him and whispered, "This room is a special magical space that simulates the environment of the universe, allowing us to experience the feeling of weightlessness."

For a moment, Sean thought he had arrived at the Museum of Science and Technology in New York City.

The next room, which is also the last room, is called the Time Room.

According to the young woman, the entire Department of Mysteries is structured in a circle, and this room is both the last room and the first room.

This rectangular room was filled with beautiful, dancing light, sparkling like jewels. Various time-related devices filled the room, such as all sorts of clocks and time converters.

At its far end is a large crystal bell jar, from which the shimmering light emanates. Inside the bell jar, everything becomes younger and younger, returning to its pre-life state, reborn and aging, in an endless cycle.

At the far end of the room was a door leading to the Hall of Prophecy, and outside the main hall were several small offices, which was Sean's destination.

A young woman knocked on the office door, and a clear voice came from inside, "Come in."
