Chapter 505: Incense Urn
Chapter 505: Incense Urn
Having used the talismans, he was very pleased with their power and effectiveness.
So this time, he didn’t hesitate and bought ten Spirit Stones’ worth of talisman papers and ink.
From what he estimated, the bulk of it should be able to last him for a very long time before he had to replenish them again.
That was the only downside to the talismans being ’consumables’ compared to Artifacts.
After the purchase of the talisman papers and ink was done, he continued to wander around in Wan Shou Fang.
He had ten Spirit Stones left with him and he wanted to see if there was anything that would be useful to him.
"Quick, let’s go and have a look."
"What’s happening?"
"I’m not sure but it’s something interesting."
A group of cultivators went by him hurriedly and many others followed behind them.
Lin Xuan Qi turned his head in the direction they were going and there was a commotion going on not too far away.
He wanted to ask one of the passersby what was going on but none had the time for him.
They rushed towards the gathering crowd not too far away.
Lin Xuan Qi frowned and his curiosity got the better of him.
He got to the crowd and stayed in a corner where it would be easy for him to get away if anything bad happened.
Right in the middle of the crowd, a young-looking man stood with his sword in his hand.
He raised his sword into the air and pointed at the sky.
"I, Long Kong, stand here under the heavens and declare that I will be setting up my sect, the Long Kong sect.
"Anyone of you rogue cultivators with a good Spiritual Root are welcome to join."
The crowd’s reaction to it wasn’t welcoming.
Many sneered and shook their heads at the man.
Even the rogue cultivators were apprehensive about what the man had said.
None of them stepped forward.
You can’t just stroll into Bian Jin and set up a new sect without someone backing you.
"How dare you, Long Kong!" A group of men shouted at Long Kong with their swords pointed at him.
"After what you’ve done to me, I’m no longer with all of you." Long Kong stared at the group of men and shouted.
The crowd started to take a few steps back away from them.
And Lin Xuan Qi did the same.
"You think you can set up a sect with that dantian of yours?
"After it being nourished by so much Spirit Herbs and Spirit Stones bestowed upon you from the sect?" One of the men in the group shouted.
"No use talking so much to him."
"Time for us to destroy his dantian."
"Yeah, he can do anything he wants after that!"
Wind blew out of nowhere and Lin Xuan Qi could feel the Spirit Qi disturbed in the surroundings.
He quickly got away from the crowd since he had seen enough.
It was a tale as old as time but it gave him an idea.
Maybe he shouldn’t be looking for cultivators to join him when he should be setting up his own sect instead.
Other sects were supporting the clans and families under them, so why not do it the other way around?
Let his Lin Clan be the one behind his new sect.
He had a rough idea but many details were still missing.
Boom!
Loud explosions could be heard behind him and he saw figures flying through the air, heading towards where Long Kong was.
He didn’t want to be any part of it so he got to the other end of Wan Shou Fang.
"Come, have a look at my Artifacts." A man dressed in a dark cultivation robe with some tattoos that looked like scriptures on his face smiled at him and said.
There were many items in front of him laid on a low rack.
Lin Xuan Qi glanced at the items and they gave him an unpleasant feeling.
The Artifacts came in ghastly forms like wooden puppets, centipedes, skulls, cicadas, or bones.
He wanted to say no and move on but the man picked up a wooden puppet and said, "Here, this can allow you to project yourself in another form, walking, breathing, or even eating like an ordinary person."
"What’s the catch?" Lin Xuan Qi raised an eyebrow and asked.
It sounded too good to be true and he was right.
The man pulled back his sleeve, revealing the scars from the cuts he had on his forearm.
"All you have to do is to feed it your blood in the morning and night."
"No thanks." Lin Xuan Qi wasn’t too keen on such an Artifact.
Who knew what feeding it his blood would bring about?
"Tsk." The man put down the wooden puppet and thought for a moment.
"How about this?" He picked up an ancient-looking incense urn and asked.
"And, what can I do with it?" Lin Xuan Qi threw the man a question instead, as the incense urn looked ordinary in comparison to the man’s other Artifacts on sale.
"This lets you project your voice and thoughts through it, no matter the distance.
"And unlike a voice transmitting pendant, you can also transmit your Spirit Qi through it."
Lin Xuan Qi shook his head, pretended to be disinterested and said, "I don’t think that is useful to anyone.
"A voice transmitting pendant should be enough."
The man frowned and let out a sigh.
He knew that Lin Xuan Qi was right.
All of his Artifacts were deemed to be either too evil or useless.
He had been there the whole night and not a single deal was made.
Lin Xuan Qi saw the resignation in his eyes and said, "I could take it for a Spirit Stone."
"A Spirit Stone? It’s worth at least five." The man protested and he moved his hands with the incense urn away from Lin Xuan Qi.
Lin Xuan Qi shrugged his shoulders at the man and said, "Well, if it suits you better to keep it."
He turned to the side and muttered before walking away, "As the saying goes, having the first deal might bring about better luck for the subsequent deals..."
When the man heard what he had muttered, he stretched out his hands at him and said, "Wait, it’s a deal for one Spirit Stone."
